Privacy Policy

1. About This App

ATC Frequencies is published by 4T Technologies. The app provides worldwide airport ATC frequency information for general aviation reference. It does not require an account, login, or any personal information to use.

2. Location Data

The app requests access to your device's location for two purposes:

• Nearby airports — to show airports close to your current position.
• Signal reception estimate — to calculate approximate VHF radio range from a selected airport to your position.

If you enable the background airport monitor, location is also accessed while the app is in the background so the persistent notification can update with your nearest airports.

Your location is never transmitted to any server, stored beyond the current session, or shared with any third party. It is used solely on your device, in real time.

3. Airport and Frequency Data

Airport, frequency, runway, and navigation aid data is sourced from OurAirports.com (public domain / CC0). This data is downloaded directly to your device on first launch and refreshed periodically. No personal information is involved in this process.

4. Data Storage

All data stored by the app remains on your device only:

• Airport database (downloaded from OurAirports)
• Your starred (favourite) airports
• Your home airport selection
• App settings and preferences

None of this data leaves your device.

5. Anonymous Usage Metrics

We deliberately keep this to the minimum useful for keeping the app running well and deciding what to build next. Specifically:

• A randomly generated install identifier (UUID) — created on first launch, stored only on your device. It is not linked to your name, email, Google account, or any other identity, and does not persist across reinstalls.
• App opens and session duration, together with your app version and device language/region setting (e.g. "en-GB") — used to measure engagement and catch issues tied to specific app versions.
• General app usage and feature-interaction data — for example, which airports are viewed and which in-app features are used. This is aggregate and anonymous (we see "a feature was used," never tied to a person), and helps us understand what matters most to users so we can prioritise improvements.
• Bug reports you choose to submit, and basic data-download performance (timing and success/failure of the worldwide airport data download).

App-open events are sent to a Cloudflare Worker relay, which automatically adds an approximate country and city derived from your IP address (the IP address itself is never stored). This location data is attached only to the app-open event — it is never linked to which airports you view, which features you use, or anything else you do in the app. Events are then written to a private database operated by 4T Technologies.

What is not collected: your name, email, precise GPS location, device identifiers (IMEI, advertising ID), contacts, photos, or any other information that could identify you as an individual. The app does not use advertising SDKs or share data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Analytics are disabled entirely when running a development build of the app.

6. Website Analytics

This website uses the same minimal, anonymous analytics approach as the app, via the same Cloudflare Worker relay described in Section 5 — basic, aggregate usage data such as visits and engagement, with an approximate country/city derived from your IP address (the IP address itself is never stored). Each browser is assigned a randomly generated identifier stored locally in your browser, not a cookie, which identifies a browser rather than a person.

There is no advertising, no cross-site tracking, and no personal information involved — this exists purely so we know whether the site is being visited and read.

7. Third-Party Services

The app connects to the following external services:

• OurAirports.com — downloads airport and frequency data on first launch and weekly thereafter. No personal data is sent.
• OpenStreetMap — map tiles loaded when viewing an airport map. Standard tile request; no personal data beyond a routine IP connection.
• Cloudflare Workers — anonymous metrics relay (see Section 5).
• LiveATC.net — optional link-out to live ATC audio streams, opened in your browser. Subject to LiveATC's own privacy policy.

The app does not integrate advertising networks, social login, or tracking SDKs.

8. Children's Privacy

This app does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13, or any other age. No personal data is collected from any user.

9. Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised date shown in the footer below.
